If We Must Keep the Ten Commandments, Why Would We Not Keep the Sabbath?
When we talk about the Ten Commandments, Christians who believe in God generally know that they are God’s commandments and understand that they should be kept. If we are expected to keep the Ten Commandments, then why do some people say that we do not need to keep the Sabbath?
Many Christians believe that the Sabbath was abolished because it was part of the Old Testament law. But if we are to keep the Ten Commandments, can we simply leave out the fourth commandment?
The Ten Commandments consist of ten commandments, not nine. Each commandment, from the first to the tenth, has its own importance. So can we really say, “We must keep nine of the commandments, but we do not need to keep the fourth commandment”?
The Bible clearly shows that Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath:
Jesus did not simply acknowledge the Sabbath—He observed it as part of His regular practice.
The apostles also continued to observe the Sabbath. Acts 17:2 says:
If the Sabbath had been abolished, why would Jesus and His apostles continue to observe it?
Jesus also taught the importance of keeping His commandments:
And the Sabbath is clearly included among the Ten Commandments given by God:
The Bible does not say that nine of the Ten Commandments should be kept while the fourth commandment is excluded. Instead, the Sabbath is specifically identified as a commandment of God.
Even many churches that do not observe the Sabbath emphasize the importance of the Ten Commandments. Yet the fourth commandment is often treated differently.
If the Sabbath was truly abolished, where in the Bible does it say that the fourth commandment was abolished? What Scripture clearly states that Christians no longer need to keep the Sabbath?
Rather than assuming that the Sabbath was abolished simply because it is found in the Old Testament, let us carefully examine the Scriptures, including the teachings and example of Jesus and the apostles.
Let us study the Bible for ourselves and discover what God truly teaches about the Sabbath and whether this commandment is still meant to be kept today.

If the Ten Commandments are important, we must cherish and keep all ten of them. However, it is very strange that the fourth commandment—the Sabbath—is the only one not being observed. Since the Sabbath is also an important commandment given by God, let us make sure to observe it on Saturday.
I completely agree with this message because the Ten Commandments are God’s commandments, and the Sabbath is clearly the fourth commandment.
We should not choose only the commandments we want to keep while ignoring the others.
Jesus Himself kept the Sabbath, and the apostles also followed His example according to the Bible.
If we truly love God and want to obey His commandments, we should carefully consider the importance of the Sabbath.
I hope everyone will study the Bible and realize that the Sabbath is one of God’s precious commandments that we should keep holy.
Let us follow God’s Word rather than human ideas and faithfully keep the Sabbath!
If we are required to keep nine of the commandments, we must also keep the fourth. The command to keep the Sabbath day holy remains a valid, active law of God.
Not keeping the Sabbath is the same as not keeping the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments are important commandments for Christians. However, if the Sabbath is included in those commandments, shouldn't we strictly observe it? Let us become children who fully keep the Ten Commandments by observing the Sabbath completely, rather than just Sunday worship!
The new covenant Sabbath must be kept in this age. Through the Sabbath God Elohim grants us eternal rest and holiness. Moreover we come to realize true God Elohim by keeping the Sabbath.
