Repentance & Realization
We Are Here to Repent: A Biblical Life of Repentance | WMSCOG
The Bible teaches that our life on this earth is a precious opportunity to repent and return to God before facing His judgment. Jesus clearly said:
“I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” — Luke 5:32
According to the Bible, repentance is not simply feeling sorry for our sins or saying that we are sorry. True repentance means turning away from sin, obeying God’s Word, and living according to His teachings.
What Does True Repentance Mean?
Jesus emphasized the importance of repentance:
“Unless you repent, you too will all perish.” — Luke 13:3
This shows how important repentance is in our spiritual life. A repentant heart seeks to change its ways and follow God’s will. The Bible also says:
“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out.” — Acts 3:19
Repentance involves turning back to God. Therefore, those who sincerely desire forgiveness should not remain only at the level of words. They should put God’s teachings into practice through their daily lives.
Obeying God’s Word Is a Life of Repentance
The Bible teaches that knowing God’s Word is not enough. We must put it into action.
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” — James 1:22
A life of repentance is demonstrated through obedience to God’s commandments, following Christ’s example, and practicing the teachings of the Bible. Every day gives us another opportunity to examine our hearts, correct our mistakes, and draw closer to God.
Repentance, therefore, is not a one-time event. It is a continuing journey of faith in which we learn to put God first and live according to His will.
Repentance Also Means Helping Others Find God
When we understand the importance of repentance, we naturally want others to know about God as well. Jesus gave His disciples the mission to preach the gospel:
“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.” — Mark 16:15
Sharing the truth of the Bible is not about judging others. Rather, it is about helping fellow sinners recognize God’s love, understand His Word, and find the path that leads back to Him.
The Bible says:
“Whoever turns a sinner from the error of their way will save them from death and cover over a multitude of sins.” — James 5:20
This teaches us that guiding others toward repentance is also an important part of a Christian life.
We Are Here to Repent and Return to God
Every person needs repentance because no one is perfect. Our time on earth should not be spent only pursuing temporary things. It should be a time to seek God, obey His Word, practice His teachings, and prepare for the kingdom of heaven.
True repentance begins with recognizing our sins, continues through obedience to God’s Word, and bears fruit by helping others find the way back to God.
Let us use this precious life to repent sincerely, follow the teachings of the Bible, and share the hope of salvation with others.
